Why ASHADIYA Foundation ?
Over 18 million children live on the streets of India with an estimated 120,000 more arriving by rail every year. This means that, in India, a child arrives alone on a railway platform every five minutes! The incidence of rape and abuse is increasing. The Disha project focuses on sheltering, educating and nourishing vulnerable young girls and giving them a chance to lead a normal a life. With the Asha project we strive to give our children the knowledge and strength to choose their future because we think that basic education is every child's right.
Clean potable water is still in short supply in many villages. With the Saaf Pani project we alleviate this basic need and improve the lives of hundreds of people. Destitute people have no means to cope with unexpected medical emergencies. The Jeevan Sahara project provides life support in these circumstances.
AshaDiya Foundation’s projects are supervised in Varanasi by two very capable French volunteers Eleonor Le Marie and Anne Marie Chanteloup under the management of experienced social workers, who care very deeply to improve the lives of under privileged young children and destitute persons.
Asha is Hope and Diya is light, in Hindi. AshaDiya Foundation, a not for profit company, brings drops of Hope and Light in all these lives but only as far as our funds allow. Any amount you choose to donate may seem a small drop but all drops together will make the difference.
